Brief Description of the Golf Course and/or Club

Seaview Golf Resort is southern New Jersey’s only full-service golf resort - and so much more. One of the premiere golf destinations in the United States, Seaview is a one-of-a-kind, magnificent old-world resort - combining historical charm, pristine natural beauty, outstanding championship golf and exquisite amenities for vacations, weddings, banquets and business meetings.

It’s all here and within reach - a luxurious, relaxing, yet fun-filled vacation destination, at a convenient location minutes from the excitement of Atlantic City. Explore Seaview Golf Resort and discover the best-kept getaway secret at the Jersey Shore.

Steeped in history, the Seaview Golf Resort has earned a reputation for excellence in golf since 1914. Both the Pines Course and Bay Course have stood the test of time - and continue to garner accolades for beauty, condition and playability.

This facility, which was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1996 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," features two exceptional eighteen hole regulation courses. The Bay Course is a seaside links-style design that features undulating greens. This course has several sand bunkers spread throughout its design, and water hazards come into play on a number of holes.

History of the Golf Facility:

The golf club dates from 1914, when public utility magnate Clarence H. Geist founded the Seaview Country Club.  The original golf course, known today as the Bay Course, was partially designed by Hugh Wilson (who also designed the two courses at Merion Golf Club) and opened in 1915. The following year, Donald Ross completed the course by adding the sand bunkers. In 1998, the course was restored by Bob Cupp Jr. to be close to the original design. Today the course plays as a par 71, 6,247 yards from the back tees.  In 2006, the hole numbers were rearranged to improve logistics.

The Seaview Country Club hosted the 1942 PGA Championship, when the tournament was still conducted by match play, with Sam Snead defeating Jim Turnesa 2 & 1 to claim his first major championship, closing out the match by holing a 60-foot chip shot for birdie on the 35th hole. A composite course was used for the event, using the front nine of the Bay Course coupled with the nine holes designed by Flynn.
